Andrew Jefford | Saturated deep black-red. This wine has a much more complex aroma than its Langoa sibling: pastille blackcurrant fruits mingled with fine perfumer’s spices and distiller’s botanicals. It’s fully ripe, too, without a trace of green. Some tar to finish. On the palate, it is very brisk, almost severe, of military bearing, with crunchy, fresh, high-focus blackcurrant picked on the very instant the green flavors faded. For the time being, the aromatic complexity it displayed on the nose is not evident on the palate, perhaps because the acidity makes for such a masterful flavor. It has mid-term potential. 2018–24. | 90
Michael Schuster | Blackcurrant Cabernet clear, but overall tight and youthful to smell behind the gentle minerality; full, concentrated, vital, tannic, a fine, long-term, gently muscular constitution; rich, fresh, tasty, complex, and aromatic St-Julien, long and complex across the palate—that’s clear—but also needing a long time in bottle to reveal its potential; fine Long-term wine, needing a decade and more in bottle to begin to shine. 2028–42+. | 92
