Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. Surprisingly sweet, warm, and ripe, and when first poured less purely fruity than most of its commune peers. There are some planty recesses to this—a little reduction? It’s not a classical scent, anyway, though it has a singular intrigue. The scents turn fresher and more charmingly fruity after five minutes in the glass. It’s intense, pure, vivid, and bright in the mouth, with pristine redcurrant and blackcurrant flavors, very lively, though amply ripe acidity, and little tannin. There’s a sweetness to the fruit here that many of its commune peers lack. Charming Alter Ego. 2018–23. | 89
Michael Schuster | Freshly ripe fruit and mineral nose; lovely overall balance, medium-full, fresh, very finely tannic; sweetly, freshly ripe fruit to taste, long, graceful, gently fleshy, and fragrantly persistent. Complete, harmonious, a fine, stylish, classy Margaux. Such a harmonious texture and balance that this will accessible relatively early but, of course, have years in hand. 2024–34+. | 92
