Andrew Jefford | Deep black-red. The fruit here is slightly dry and raisiny, though there isn’t even a whisper of unripeness. But this aromatic profile doesn’t have the same level of resource and richness as the best of its Pomerol peers. The palate is intense, very ripe, dry rather than sweet, with good tannic support but little acidity or freshness. It’s still a very serious Pomerol for the vintage, and there is subdued fruit to carry the rest; indeed, I would call that fruit ripe plum rather than raisin when you take a look at it in the mouth. This is serious and close-textured stuff that has totally overcome its vintage, and I think it will age well. Finer aromas in which the fruit played a more central role would win an even higher score, and no true Pomerol lover would be disappointed by this. 2018–25. | 90
Michael Schuster | Freshly ripe fruit on the nose; elegantly balanced medium-full wine, fresh and finely firm in tannin; freshly ripe in fruit, gently aromatic, a touch austere overall, and of moderate complexity and length; good rather than special in this vintage. The tannin means that this will need time. 2026–35+. | 89
