Stephen Brook | Like Climens, Fargues is made with an almost obsessive and meticulous attention to detail. So, it’s no surprise to find such clarity of fruit on the nose, with its delicate botrytis and apricot aromas. There’s intense acidity on the attack and this cuts the opulent and velvety fruit, and there’s even a hint of white pepper on the bracing finish. Moreover, the oak is perfectly integrated, and the finish is elegant, poised, and very long. Definitely a wine for long cellaring. | 96
Andrew Jefford | Mid-gold in color, with a slightly restrained nose compared to the best of its peers: honeyed and sweet, but shy for the time being. Intense and deep on the palate, packed with marzipan and honey; super-concentrated and long, with fine reverberative acidity. All it lacks for the time being is a full set of allusions, but time should bring those in due course. Dense, purposeful Sauternes. 2018–30. | 95
