BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Very rich and powerful on the nose and in the mouth, very ripe, but with a slight deficit in primary aromatic complexity by comparison with the very best. A rich wine, classically structured, that will evolve slowly but surely in bottle. 17

Michael Schuster: Turbid mid-gold; rich, citrussy, complex, noble rot spicy; concentrated, elegantly balanced wine of considerable scope and complexity; intensely sweet, unctuously textured yet remaining fresh; long, tenacious palate, aromatically mouthcoating, full of gentle energy; a lovely racy flavor and great length. Richness, density, and yet remarkable lightness, freshness, and definition, given the weight and intensity. Great length of fruit and botrytis spice. A very fine De Fargues. 2014–34+. 17.5/18
