Alison Buchanan: Deep amber, withatawny core, caramelized nuts dominate here on the nose, allied to toast and bitter marmalade, coffee on the side—alluring. The palate is richer, sweeter than the nose suggests but has energy and focus, within what is essentially decadence in a glass. Layered and complex, citrus fruit and nut praline are woven within mocha opulence and orchard fruit refreshment—rather lovely. | 94
Andrew Jefford: Dark clear light walnut. Sweet toffee and camphor, some crushed raisins and burned plum, a lick of savory dry brine; this has fine aromatic composition and makes for invigorating sniffing. Vivid, savory-sweet, packed with liquid nut-toffee and runny peanut salt; long and resonant. There’s less of an acid balance and less evident sense of old-age composition in the blend (despite the fact that it has an older age badge) than for [Grant Burge 10 Year Old Tawny and Grant Burge 20 Year Old Tawny]; but it’s exuberant and festive and limitlessly generous, and no one is going to feel short-changed by a glass of this. A great summary of Aussie sunshine, the ancient burned earth, the gnarly vines, and the treasured casks. | 92
Margaret Rand: Some nose of prunes, dried cherries, chocolate; palate rich, sweet, fruitcakey, lots of raisins and figs. Big, powerful, concentrated, and intense. A Christmas pudding of a wine, with acidity to balance. Lots of dried figs, complex and flavorsome. | 91
