Simon Field A distinctive red-purple color is matched by a classic nose of graphite, incense, and sour cherry; herbaceous in its least pejorative sense; linear tension carries through en bouche, the tannins far from unexpressive, the cherry fruit maybe a little reticent at the moment. Gastronomically promising, classically shaped, provocatively pungent. | 91
Andrew Jefford Deep, dense clear black-red, but no signs of premature age as yet here. The scents are mature and well aged, harmonious and clean: settled red fruits, soft spice, earth and always that diagnostic freshness, too. A very attractive aromatic profile. Vivid, poised, lively, and fresh red wine; now mature, and with the harmony and complexity that you would expect with the passing of the years. Most enjoyable if not exactly a show-stopper. | 85
Charles Metcalfe This is a good and typical expression of Anjou in a cooler year, with a haracteristically earthy note to the nose, and sweetly grassy hints. Flavors are of earth and baked raspberries, with firm, brisk tannins and medium-high acidity. It’s expressive but quite closed at present and could develop over another three to five years. | 90
