Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | “We are among the 200 hectares in Pomerol that escaped the frost. It was only a question of 0.5 degrees” explains Alexandre Thienpont. It’s an early vintage of old vines, which results in a taut wine, with great Cabernets, contained power and silky creaminess of the highest pedigree, followed by a mineral finish. | 95
Michael Schuster | On the nose there are ripe cherries behind a suggestion of dried herbs and pine scents; rich and vivid, too, with a very fine tannin, a super balance; long, and vital, with the particular energy that comes from the ripe fruit and acid combination in this vintage; like many Pomerols in the year, this wine coats your mouth in aromas, a density of fragrance as distinct from a concentration of fruit per se, and with a clear mineral element as part of the perfume; even and elegant, with a creamy, effortless texture and wonderful length. A remarkable wine. 2030–50+. | 94–95
