BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín | Deep, almost opaque cherry. Tight and mineral nose gradually opening with a note of consommé. The palate does not match this and, in fact, is rather light despite the evident tannins. | 88

Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red. Classic Bierzo earthiness and a slight tomato note to the fruit, as well as a hint of snipped grass, but overall this is a characterful yet attractive wine as far as its aromatic profile is concerned. Exuberant, but a bit stewy and clumsy on the palate. It might well benefit from a vigorous double decant. There are good materials in here, and it certainly has plenty of the distinctive regional style. | 85

Richard Mayson | Very deep, youthful, and opaque; tight-knit but fragrant on the nose, wild hedgerow fruit with some underlying depth evident; firm and full of berry fruit, lovely acidity cutting through the tannins and leading to a firm, rather lovely gravelly-stony finish. | 89
