BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín | Deep, almost opaque cherry, with garnet rim suggesting age. The nose displays budding tertiary aromas of leather and dry flowers, over a background of licorice and menthol. The palate is concentrated and tight, with years ahead. Powerful tannins, even excessive. | 88

Andrew Jefford | Dark, sober black-red in color, with plenty of opacity still. Some toffee sweetness on the nose over dusty plums. Vivid, generous, long: a slightly rough-and-ready wine compared to the very best of its peers, but still in good shape. | 88

Richard Mayson | Mid-deep in color, just starting to turn on the rim; open, fragrant, and up front, simple blackberry fruit withatouch of oak; light to mid-weight berry fruit, sinewy tannins, verging on lean on the finish. A bit simple and one dimensional. | 81
