Neil Beckett | From three tiny plots planted between the 1930s and 1950s, with 100% whole-bunch (normal for this wine) but no new oak. Pierre is a great believer in Griotte, thinking it generally underestimated because it is the smallest of the Gevrey grands crus, and he shows the wine last to help make the point. Luminous mid-ruby. A lovely roseate nose, with a lick of earthy red licorice and whiff of white pepper from the stems (but these have been very well managed). Great density and suavity of texture, almost a sucrosity, not quite the floating quality of the Latricières, but exceptionally fine, fresh, and intense. A reference wine. | 96
