Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Intense, mineral nose, with chalk, small black fruits, and hints of violets and rosemary. Medium body, with clean fruit, a touch simple on the finish. | 87
Stephen Brook | Dumb nose. Bold and vivid, with an explosive attack and fine concentration. There’s good but not exceptional acidity, so the palate does rather grind to a halt. Suave and without harshness, this is forward for Serralunga, with light tannins on the finish. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Clear, limpid red. Sweet, warm, ripe, and fragrant: soft, elegant, tea-leaf aromas, with a pleasing meaty softness, too, and a little unusual rubbed thyme. If you’re not hung up about having a prominent fruit component to the aromatic spectrum, this is outstanding. On the palate, this is soft, open, graceful, and elegant, with some acidity and soft tannins. A little more fruit on the palate than the nose suggested. Graceful, accessible, nuanced, and hugely enjoyable. | 91
