Bruno Besa | Garnet to light tawny. Fairly simple, fragile nose, with rosewater, plums, and orange peel. Medium body, simple red and black fruit, and a slightly bitter finish. | 86
Stephen Brook | Cherry-liqueur nose. Plump and fleshy, this has weight without heaviness, and fine acidity keeps it fresh. Replaces complexity with finesse. Well balanced and long. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Clear, light, and bright. Vivid, vigorous fruit here dominates the nose, with a little licorice- root complexity. A touch obvious. On the palate, this is a grippy, firm wine of real distinction, built on a core of prominent cherry/plum/sloe fruit, and supported by classically firm, pert tannins. It doesn’t have the gentle, fragrant, meditative serenity of some of its peers yet, but its creator evidently intended these to come with bottle age, and I don’t doubt they will. Super wine. | 91
