Alex Hunt | Powerful yet quite discreet on the nose, slightly Sonoma-esque, going toward brambly fruit but still well within the Pinot vernacular. Really good flavor, with touches of earth and smoke alongside the dark berry fruit. The slightly slippery texture could do with a few more angles. But serious wine. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Very deep black-red, but the light comes spilling through, too. Deep, chunky cherry fruits withatouch of tar: a very good Pinot nose, and a little step toward real complexity. On the palate, this is a meaty, fleshy Pommard kind of Pinot, but that savory richness informs some black-cherry fruit: firm, frank, fresh, full. There’s also a little more weight on the tongue for this wine than for most, though still not much tannic structure. Nonetheless, this is a very good effort and a wholly recommendable wine for anyone who loves that Chilean intensity and sweet temper of fruit and who is looking for it in Pinot guise, with enough structure to work at table. | 90
Anthony Rose | Distinctly dark and saturated in color for Pinot Noir, suggesting a few days cold-soak before fermentation, this has a beguiling sweet loganberry-like fragrance, very Pinot Noir in character, and fresh and bright to boot. The intensity of perfume is echoed on the palate with fine concentration of dark cherry and loganberry-like fruit, which is framed by a distinct muscularity of tannin and a cleansing streak of balancing fresh acidity. On the big and impressive side, this needs a year or so to soften down toward enjoyable drinkability; which I feel confident it will do. | 92
