Simon Field: Dense and brooding, an expressive wine that is slightly hollow at its heart. Perfectly well constructed and admirably restrained for the vintage, with a generous creamy texture that is immediately satisfying. But is there sufficient self-discipline to project it into the top rank? 16

Richard Mayson: Warm, ripe, slightly stewed fruit on the nose. Very soft and sweet initially, with some ripe, dense tannins rising in the mouth but slightly coarse on the finish. 14

Jancis Robinson: Very dark crimson. Rather more like claret than Port on the nose, plus a green note. Pretty good - Georgian in style. Should be in a scoop-necked waistcoat over a large girth. Good wine! Very refreshing with great weight and lots of both sweetness and tannin. Extremely vigorous. Not massive. 17
