Simon Field: Generous colour. A wine with raw, slightly hot aromas, with intimations of the herb garden from a far-off place. On the palate, the rawness persists, be it borne of youth or excess; no matter, for at the moment it is almost overwhelming. Too early to call, but there is certainly no shortage of potential here. 17
Richard Mayson: Rather loose-knit, open, opulent, plummy fruit on the nose; floral. Perhaps simple at this stage but very attractive. Soft, sweet and spicy with firm, ripe tannins rising in the mouth, leading to a very impressive finale. 17
Jancis Robinson: Blackish crimson. Sweet, alcoholic, almost more like a late-harvest Zinfandel than a Port! And that’s because there’s a suggestion of some green berries as well as all those overripe ones too. This is distinctly non-classic! Shows the classicism of true Vintage Port. Just sugar and acid here. 10
