Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A fresh and fleshy wine with lovely colour, a classy, classical cedar–liquorice–red-berry nose and stylish tannins. Superbly balanced for ageing. 17

Margaret Rand: Plenty of tannin and plenty of ripeness: good, bold fruit, quite chunky on the palate but more elegant and perfumed on the finish. There’s good complexity, too. 17.5

Michael Schuster: Very pure, freshly ripe, blackcurrant and mineral nose; beautifully balanced, rich middleweight with a crisp acidity and very firm, fine tannin – slightly austere, long-term balance; a very pure fruit, close-grained and refined Cabernet essence, subtle, gravel-imbued, taut, complex and long, with a lovely blackberry persistence. The usual Poyferré finesse, but in a real vin de garde style. 16.5
