Margaret Rand: There’s some perfume here, but otherwise few thrills at the moment. The tannins are dry and the fruit is lean. 13

Michael Schuster: Strong, sweet, black fruit and new oak. Well balanced in a full firmly tannic style. Fine quality, sweet, fresh, ripe fruit, rather dominated by dry oak at present, but with good fruit persistence. A little hot and extracted. Good in the new, slightly ‘forced’ Right Bank style, like last year. And, as with last year, this is good… if that’s how you want your Margaux! 15
