BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A real success, with prettier texture and finer, more accomplished aromas than any wine from this estate in recent vintages. Ripe, gently handled fruit with a sprinkling of soft liquoricy notes, unaggressive tannins and lovely persistence. Excellent. 15.5

Margaret Rand: New oak with a pronounced vanilla perfume and a pretty tough and chewy texture. The fruit is not very evident. 14

Michael Schuster: Inky appearance. Sweet cassis fruit under vanilla new wood on the nose. Supple medium-weight with fresh acidity and fine tannin. Attractively fleshy, sweet, juicy fruit, well-managed tannin and good, spicy length. Good lesser cru classé level, flattering, new-wave, ripe, oaky style. But not overdone. 14.5+
