BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Still cloudy and withatrace of residual sugar. Overall, however, it showed great aromatic purity with delicate notes of citrus and white flowers. The palate, too, was rich in promise: full-bodied but with an airy mouthfeel brilliantly supported by snappy but subtle acidity. 16.5

Margaret Rand: Soft structure, but it’s a sound wine of oak and tropical fruit, depth and length. 14.5

Michael Schuster: Pale lemon. Dense, honeyed/waxy/oaky nose. Rich, fairly full-bodied wine with a fresh defining acidity. Dry, yet ripe-fruited, fat, sapid flavour, the Semillon flesh very clear in the style (though the blend is 70% Sauvignon). Quite long and graceful, and with good length. Clearly a good wine and, I imagine, a good example; though I have no idea how this wine ages. A very individual style of dry white Graves. 16.5/17
