Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Gérard Perse’s micro-cuvée is more an exercise in style than a wine of great distinction. Very rich, fat and full-bodied, with fine, taut tannins, but let down by an impression of heaviness on the finish. 14
Margaret Rand: Chewy tannins and very good length. The fruit is a bit closed at the moment, but the finish is good and rich. 16.5
Michael Schuster: Bellevue-Mondotte, Monbousquet (14.5) and Pavie-Decesse (15.5), all made by the team at Pavie, are all in a similar style, at slightly different levels. The Bellevue-Mondotte (at 15hl/ha) being the most extreme, smelling and tasting of shrivelled (withered?), raisined fruit, and more Italian vino di meditazione in style than what most of us recognise as claret. 15?
