Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Rather more colour and firmness than the Beauséjour, with even greater definition of aroma plus a more liquorice mid-palate. Super overall balance, and an exemplary, clearly stated expression of terroir. 16
Margaret Rand: Spicy, cakey fruit, with lots of perfume and excellent balance. Very, very long. 18
Michael Schuster: Fleshy medium-weight with a fine tannin and fresh acidity. Ripe, flowing, gently oaky black cherry Merlot fruit; nice length across the palate. Warm, spicy, elegant, harmonious and long to finish. Very well made (by John Kolassa, who also looks after Rauzan-Ségla), with no sense of overextraction or super-ripeness – a little fuller and fleshier than Belair, for example, while still in a fine traditional St-Emilion style. Very nice. 16+
