Oz Clarke: Fairly deep red. Nose with a hint of burnt rubber. Fairly tannic and fairly oaky – this tasting note is turning into a cavalcade of ‘fairlies’ – is there a fault? No, I think it’s okay. Not brilliant but enough black fruit and mint to cope with the slightly sullen bitter undertow. 15.5
Alex Hunt: Closed and introvert on the nose, but rather more generous and expressive on the palate, with fulsome but quite pure fruit, admirable tannin balance and a refreshing finish. Should open up beautifully with bottle age. 17.5
Margaret Rand: Lean fruit, dense, quite solid, not huge complexity but very polished. Perfectly agreeable and very poised, but a bit ‘so what?’. No real excitement. Sooty, pruney fruit, a bit cooked. 15.5
