Oz Clarke: Palate quite good. It’s full, pleasant nutty oak on fairly dark fruit, and good, rather stewy cherry and mint. There is some black bitterness there, perhaps a bit too much. But the fruit is attractive stewed cherry and mint. It almost works very well, but the tannin is a bit aggressive at the front of the palate. Yet the cherry and mint fruit is very attractive. Put a big sirloin with it? Yes. 16
Alex Hunt: Oddly bland. The nose is creamy, tropical, almost white-wine-like, and there’s no real Cabernet fruit expression on the palate. Balance and concentration are okay, but the wine is curiously unsatisfying. Perhaps it’s just a phase… 14
Margaret Rand: Chunky, coffee fruit, loose-knit, muscular, foursquare. Quite a bruiser, but slightly flabby at the same time. Fruit cooked and hot. 14.5
