Oz Clarke: Rather gentle texture, spice and firm red plum, some tannin too. It’s loose-knit, rather clove-spice oaky, pleasant light fruit, but there’s also a tannic riff running through the wine. Interestingly, it finishes ripe and balanced and appetising. Appetising is a term in short supply in this tasting, but the tannic surge is eventually too much. 15
Alex Hunt: Closed, mineral nose; involving and could be fabulous if it opens up. The palate is more easy-going than I expected. It starts with a rush of rather bland summer fruit, then expands a little on the mid-palate. This is hard to assess – come back in two years? 14
Margaret Rand: Coffee, prune fruit, silky tannins, refinement and a lot of politesse. Length pretty good. It doesn’t really sing, but it’s very charming. 16
