Oz Clarke: Mid-red, no great depth. Pleasant, bright, fruity nose. Palate – not intense but a nice easy-drinking black-plum and blackcurrant fruit and a little nutty softness. The tannin’s okay, the acid’s integrated. It isn’t a particularly ambitious wine, but it’s pleasant drinking stuff with a firm and vaguely tannic edge. 15
Alex Hunt: Very yellow pepper – a less ripe style than the norm. High acid, lower alcohol, this style stands out among the broad-shouldered trendsetters. However, I can’t help wishing for a touch more depth! 14.5
Margaret Rand: A sooty, dark nose, and the fruit is all black plums and cherries, as though it’s going out of its way to charm. There’s a fair whack of tannin, and it’s very Cab: I wouldn’t mind a bit of something else (or more of something else), just to fill it out a bit. Good finish, long and persistent. 15
