Oz Clarke: Fair texture, attractive stewed plum fruit and a little savoury softness. Palate has quite a big touch of menthol and some fair stewy fruit. The tannin is fairly evident and a bit grainy, and the final effect is of decent, slightly stewy plum and blackcurrant fruit, but no real oomph. 15

Alex Hunt: Ripe, cakey, apricoty Merlot makes its presence felt on the nose. A nice-tasting but quite loosely structured wine that turns pruney on the finish. The start shows up some hard acid, which has all but disappeared by the end. Flat and uninspiring. 13

Margaret Rand: Bright fruit, polished, quite complex, cooked and hot, impressive, weighty but not overweight. Finish is a bit clunking – long but foursquare. 16
