Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Ripe, pure blackcurrant nose, classic if not ebullient. Rich, broad, lush, more generous than the nose suggests, but has acidic bite to keep it lively. Indeed, the acidity is very appealing. This has energy and balance and is beautifully assembled. It isn’t the most profound or complex, but I admire its flair and persistence. 17
Andrew Jefford: Opaque black-purple. Aromatically slightly dry, resiny, and raisiny. Lacks enticement. Well made, sound, and solid, with a gush of cool Cabernet straight from the lake. But that lingering, cool, green peppery-leafy note on the finish betrays the vintage and discourages cellaring, despite the ample tannins and the class and concentration of the fruit. 14
Michael Schuster: Fresh, ripe, blackberry, and mineral nose. Firm, elegantly balanced middleweight St-Julien with a fine, gently firm tannin; a very nice combination of fresh, ripe fruit, subtle minerality, and good aromatic length. Long, elegant, even St-Julien—a lovely glass of classic claret in the making. 2013–20+. 16
