Alison Buchanan: Beautiful amber in colour. Beautiful, that is, for amber, if not expected in a wine; but, grower known, perhaps not so surprising. In contrast to the appearance, the nose suggests bone dry. Palate is bone dry and tired. Dare I say dried out? 0
Nicolas Belfrage: Seriously oxidised colour of light Amontillado. Nose, too, is oxidised. Palate is not unlike dry Amontillado, without the flor. Wood predominates over oak. Knowing Gravner, this may be intentional, but I would prefer to think of it as a poor bottle. On second taste, alas, it seems to be intentional. I can’t see the point. 7
Alex Hunt: The sultana-gold colour hints this may be idiosyncratic stuff, and indeed it is, with a layer of rich, Oloroso-like nut and molasses aroma under what is otherwise a fairly fresh, floral nose. The palate is markedly tannic – in fact, it is like a red wine masquerading as white. But it is enjoyable to drink as well as interesting to taste. 16
