Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Robust, blackcurrant nose, with a trace of bonbons. Medium-bodied, with a fresh attack; bright, if rather simple; doesn’t lack concentration, but there’s little dimension; the fruit doesn’t fan out on the palate. Clean, straightforward, brisk, with pleasing acidity and reasonable length. 14

Andrew Jefford: Full black-red, though no longer opaque. Evolved already: full, earthy, cedary, attractive; has attained in four years what it takes a great vintage ten years to attain, though without the same aromatic amplitude and without the same anticipation of durability. Ripe, full, earthy, warm; then, having crossed the middle-palate saddle briskly, it falls away. Nonetheless this is a good, medium-bodied, medium-textured example of the vintage for those looking for true ripeness. To be drunk anytime over the next five years. 14.5
