Simon Field: Rich brick colour, then a gentle nose with echoes of summer pudding and a presentiment towards autumn evenings. The palate is workmanlike, solid and well made. Everything is in balance but the overall structure recalls the parish church rather than the cathedral. 14
Andrew Jefford: Dark, glowing, promising. Sweet, fresh fruit. Also very youthful, pert and promising here. There is a sense of incipient meatiness, but very clean and fresh too, just underlining the fact that it has embarked on a healthy ageing trajectory. Rounded and complete, with a decent meaty dimension to the plump blackcurrant fruit. Relatively approachable tannins. Super-sound: lots of mid-term pleasure. 16
Richard Mayson: Very good deep colour, thin crimson-purple rim. Closed and withdrawn but with underlying fleshy fruit. Initially soft and fleshy on the palate but with firm tannins rising in the mouth and a firm, peppery, tannic finish. Well structured with pure berry fruit lingering on the finish. Drink 2010-2030 plus. 17
