Simon Field: Attractive and delightfully fresh, with gentle, evolved, brick colouring and roses and minerals on the nose. On the palate, there is persistence and harmony, and balanced acidity frames notes of rosehip and orange. Length and an attractive freshness on the finish belie the age and underline the quality. 17.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear and glowing. Dry, warm woods, sunny hillsides and herbs. Lively still; full and mouth-filling; long and tangy, with the fruit now modulated towards something a little more herbal. The tannins are now mellow and fully incorporated. Deliciously satisfying Vintage Port at the peak of maturity. 16.5
Richard Mayson: Mid-brick-red centre, tawny-pink rim. Open, fully mature, fruit-driven aromas - elegant and seductive; violets. Lovely, soft, and seductive with fine, firm tannins rising in the mouth and lingering on the finish. A classic 1970 with good backbone. Drink now with pleasure or keep for 20 years. Not big but surprisingly refined and elegant. 18.5
