Simon Field: Elegant, mature-brick to garnet hue. On the nose, high toned with aromatic persistence, floral notes and freshness. All of these are confirmed with interest on the palate: charming, feminine and framed by the right kind of acidity. Beyond this, a real power, typical of the vintage, and a breadth and elegance of texture that will continue to evolve with real aplomb but is a real treat now. Top class. 19
Andrew Jefford: Clear, with red and brick notes more or less in equilibrium. Sweet, full, almost chocolaty scents, quite gentle now, easy to appreciate and enjoy. Succulent and sweet, with lots of sweet cherry and plum and even a little white pepper still buried somewhere. Fragrant in the mouth. Supple, softer style but holding its own. 16
Richard Mayson: fine, mid-deep brick-red centre, withathin tawny-pink rim. Not a great deal to give on the nose - some underlying floral fruit. Quite rich, fruit slightly burnt but with lovely bitter-chocolate intensity. Firm tannic backbone all the way to the finish. Good now but the fruit is drying out. Drink over the next 5-10 years. 15
