Tim Atkin : Very dense, rich, almost opaque colour. Still very youthful on the nose. Palate very ripe and dominated by Shiraz. Almost Mount Edelstone-like, with lots of American oak sweetness, but also considerable complexity. Still has some petrol in the tank, so should age for 3-5 years. 17

Oz Clarke: Quite deep red, ageing on the rim. Quite different nose - richer, more juicy. Palate - good, full, round, mix of bark and leaf and fairly sweet chocolate oak. It’s big and deep, powerful. It has clearly lost some of its bulk in the last ten years but I don’t think it has massively gained character. I like it. Full, quite rich, touch of raisin and brown manilla envelopes (those of you who know will understand what I mean!). Rich, good, overripe plums underpinning the flavour. Good. 16.5

Michael Schuster: Inky black-red; dense, ripe, cedary, blackberry-fruit nose; rich full-bodied wine with a very firm tannin, very sweet fruit of moderate complexity framed by a very dry oak tannin - good fruit parched by its new-oak component. 14
