BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: On the nose, dense, ripe blackberry fruit with new oak sweetness; attractively balanced, medium-full wine; quite complex and classy ripe fruit, good length. More 'natural', in the new-wave style, than Lascombes, for example, but also rather parched by its new oak. 16?

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A handsome, generous, accomplished Margaux, with distinctive but not overpowering oak and distinguished tannins. Transparent expression of the strength of the vintage and the finesse of the terroir. Beautifully crafted. 17
