BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Dense, minerally, essency nose with a faint oak-cedar; rich, medium full-bodied wine with a fresh balancing acidity and firm but fine-grained tannins - slightly chewy in texture; ripe, fleshy, generous fruit with, like the Trotanoy, a clayey tenacity; long, mouth-filling, muscular and backward. A very good, if not great, Petrus. 18

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: More robust and certainly more ample than the Trotanoy, but not as complex or subtle. Both exhibit a vinosity and tannic quality that are unrivalled by anything we have tasted from Pomerol this year (which does not include the Lafleur, nor the l'Evangile, of course, anxious as that estate is to avoid the attentions of the French press). 18
