Simon Larkin : Tight aromatic of cherry fruit and scented note. The palate is refined and elegant, this is a balanced example with a silky note of finesse. The accent is not on volume here, as the fruit is pure and clearly expressed. Slightly drying tannins creep in on the finish, as well as a marked vibrance suggesting it is yet to knit fully. A mid-weight example, not without elegance but lacking some dimension. Needs some time - four to five years - to show development. 14.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth. Nose a bit on the quiet side, hints of herb and spice. No great concentration, firm acid. Lacks the generosity expected of '97. Okay now, but not a long-distance runner. 14
