Anthony Rose: (disgorged 2017) From similar sources as the 2006 Rosé, this is now a deep bronze-pink in color, with a slightly smoky, strawberryish nose, then the opulent, full-bodied richness and vinosity of Pinot Noir fruit (two thirds of the red-wine component comes from the Montagne de Reims), muscular, winey, and fleshy, rather like a red-wine drinker’s rosé, very much a food wine, with a vanilla finish. Lots of character here, a million miles from a simple, sugary, vapid rosé.
