Nicolas Belfrage: Attractive brick, beginnings of evolution. Funky, savory nose of type, fruit more surmature than fresh. Creamy texture, good penetration, tannins well handled and acidity fresh, good finish. Authentic with some character. Now for 6+ years. 15

Roy Richards Sauvage, wild thyme. Unusual for a Brunello but this is quite delicious. Outside of this tasting and blind, I would say a pure Carignan, reminiscent of Domaine de la Garance in Caux. Lovely, surely not typical, but on the side of the angels: silky and classy. 18

Franco Ziliani: Very Sangiovese-style color, light brilliant, very Tuscan nose that is earthy and mineral with wild, aromatic herbs and some leather and pepper notes and distinctive cherry plum fruit. The palate is complex, fleshy, with a good round fruit, a good tannic structure that gives persistence and energy to the long finish. Good potential for ageing and a very savory and energetic finish. 15.5
