BUY THE WINE

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep, and a little ungiving on the nose. Full, tannic and quite oak-driven palate, though there’s a good, rich vein of Sangiovese in there somewhere. Finishes on a note of vanilla toast, but the fruit is not drowned. 14

Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Closed nose, slightly herbaceous. Medium-bodied, rich and vigorous, but not extracted, though this has ample tannin. Not an ambitious wine, but balanced and enjoyable. Quite good length. 16.5

Alison Buchanan: Deep black-garnet, with quite a mature looking rim. Definite Port and PX characters - spiritous. The fruit is drying out while the tannins are still very obvious. Out of balance, dried out and rather nasty. 10
