Andrew Jefford: More green in the gold here than in the plain Villages, perhaps surprisingly. Enticing scents of pear, quince, apple. Pure, serene, ripe, open, though less intricate than I had hoped. Edgy, fresh, full, concentrated; full of the hallmark Sauzet completeness: vinous, ripe lime and white peach, even a touch of apricot. Open and welcoming already, this will provide lots of uncomplicated fun. It won’t be the most sublime Perrières you’ve ever tasted, though. Sauzet’s spicy oak evident in the finish. 15.5
Michael Schuster: Pale gold; intense nose, vividly defined, lightly oaky nose; on the palate still a touch of CO2; nicely balanced, moderately rich, quite supple but with adequate acidity; juiciness of fruit stressed here, rather than tension or minerality; but long and nicely defined with the stoniness there in the background, a gently premier cru race and tenacity across the palate, and excellent, resonant, scented length. A racier expression of Puligny-Perrières than the Carillon, if a little less dense. Both at a similar level, and both very fine. From 2012. 17+/17.5
