Jasper Morris: Palish color now, followed by an ethereal bouquet, heading into orange blossoms, with something a fraction green behind. This is fascinating and complex, rich and deep, but there’s something lurking that perhaps shouldn’t be. Frédéric notes that ’85 was complicated in the vines after the very difficult 1984 vintage and the exceptionally cold winter. A fair amount of the crop came from second-generation buds, giving tiny berries.
