Jasper Morris: A very hot year with an early harvest, beginning September 8. Michel Lafarge checked out earlier similar vintages then decided on a short vinification—the opposite of what the region’s enologist was advising. The color remains excellent. There is still vivid red fruit, then some dry tannins and good acidity. The wine deepens and darkens in color, but the nose begins to show some oxidation. On a final taste, the wine was finer and lighter and lively again. Fascinating.
