Jasper Morris: From an old-fashioned, heavier bottle, just brought to the venue, so with some sediment. A glorious nose, soft and rich and a touch of oaky caramel, the latter continuing later on. Dense rich fruit but a bit chunky and not evidently Volnay. Frédéric, however, vouched that their 1953 always tastes this young, even at the domaine.
