Essi Avellan: Pale color with the palest peachy tone. Coolly fruity nose, with ripe pear and fresh apricots. Succulent and juicy, with no autumnal characters. Simple, delicious, crunchy fruit. A sweetly fruity finish to the mouthfilling yet lightweight palate. 91
Simon Field: A rather mournful color, almost Lowry gray it seems, the bubbles sparing in their generosity; then aromatics of lemongrass, hedgerow, and hints of apfelstrudel; the palate is vinous, lacking autolytic development and inherent tension; the finish recalls above all cooking apples, and is both tart and tannic, not the most felicitous of pairings. 86
Anthony Rose: A light golden hue belies the Pinot fruit content that comes through in the aromas of this fizz; the fruit here is nicely balanced if lacking a tad in complexity, and the bubbles don’t linger overlong, but with a light grip and nice, dry finish, this is a pleasing Vintage fizz. 88
