Alex Hunt: Good fruit here—ripe yet piquant, like high-quality raspberry jam. But the wine is overextracted. There’s no excuse for those astringent tannins; it feels as though the natural density of the vintage hasn’t been adequately mitigated here. 83
Andrew Jefford: Dark dense purple-black. Sweet, succulent black cherry with nutmeg and mace and a twist or two of orange peel: enticing and good. On the palate, this is a little less primary than the nose suggested, settling down now into harmony between the fruits and spices. The tannins, as seems typical for Cote de Py in this vintage, are very generous and grippy, sketching out some cellar time. A superb mouthful here. 93
Peter Liem: This is chocolaty and dense, showing the high ripeness of the vintage. It’s underlined by a brisk structure and pronounced minerality, and it shows a hidden nuance and detail on the palate. This should develop well, and it really deserves a few years in the cellar. 91
