Stephen Brook: Lush, litchi nose, copybook Gewurz, but not overly rich. Quite sweet on the attack, and this seems a vendange tardive style. Along with the sweetness is a good whack of alcohol, which unbalances the wine. It lacks the purity and typicity of the nose and comes over as rather simple and heavy, though it doesn’t lack acidity. What to do with it? A slab of Munster cheese would work well, I suppose. Medium length15
Alison Buchanan: Golden in color and rather restrained on the nose, this has clear spice definition and an attractive minerality on the nose, allied to hallmark rosewater notes—pretty textbook stuff. The palate echoes the aromatics presented by the nose, within a very sweet frame. Luscious, ripe, and rather exotic, there is some focus, though it could do with more electricity. Long and syrupsweet on the finish16
Anthony Rose: Pale yellow, a hint of rose-petal scented fruit on the nose. There’s a faint prickle of freshness, too, which is just as well because the palate is indistinct, rather sweetish and powerful in alcohol. Overall, rather lacking in definition and focus for Gewurz15
