Michael Schuster: Dense, shy, blackcurrant and minerals on the nose; rich middleweight, supple to fresh, very refined in tannin, a beautiful, effortless balance; quite fleshy for Lafite, rich and sweet-cored within a particularly fine tannic structure; graceful, effortlessly long to taste, a splendid cushion of flavor, a quietly energetic frisson across the palate, mouth-coating in both scent-as-flavor, and in minerals-as–aroma, with an aftertaste very persistent in red and black fruit and fine gravel impressions. A quiet-spoken power, an authoritative and complete aristocrat. Packed but no excess. A splendid Lafite. 2030–45+. 95–97
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: We find again the Lafite that we admire: dense, firm, extremely racy, if a touch drier and shorter than Mouton. The new team starts off on a healthy and stable basis. 98
