Tom Stevenson: A very rooty (tuber) Pinot Noir aroma here, which I confess I find more interesting than fine. Indeed, the whole fascination of this Champagne is that it is so very Pinot—from the nose all the way through to the finish. Unfortunately, it is a bit rustic and lacks the level of finesse I expect from Roederer. (disgorged September 3, 2002)
