Stephen Brook: Opaque red. Lush, oaky, plummy, chocolaty nose, rather seductive. Opulent, full-bodied, plump, plummy, a lot of oak gives it some spiciness, but there’s alcohol heat here, too. Undoubtedly ripe but this is hard going. A pity, as the actual fruit quality is good, with plenty of succulence and concentration. Quite good length, chocolaty finish. Despite my relatively high score, reflecting the quality of the wine within its own stylistic guidelines, I would find it hard to drink. 16.5
Stephen Browett: Medium-deep color, not as black as many. Surprisingly fragrant, charming, red-fruit nose. Sweet, intense, and modern with a lovely, smooth texture andcreamy vanilla-infused new oak. Not at all jammy. There are smoky notes and a long, smooth, cashmere-like finish. Ultimately, this is a great example of real St-Emilion. Less “garage” than most. Finely constructed. 16.5
